Governor’s Parks and Preservation Award

Inaugurated in 1996 by Governor George E. Pataki, the Governor’s Parks and Preservation Award celebrates the outstanding lifetime contributions of an individual or family to New York State’s parks and historic sites. The 2001 award was presented to Anne Perkins Cabot and Samuel F. Pryor III; 2002 to Bette Midler, and the 2003 award was given to Anne Sidamon-Eristoff and Howard Phipps, Jr. Each year, the honoree chooses the non-profit organization that will benefit from the funds raised that year.
